Over $56 million in funds are being allocated by the city for infrastructure upgrades in Canarsie.
The plan includes replacing nearly four miles of water mains, creating over two miles of storm sewers and reconstructing various roadways.
The city is making the improvements in hopes of reducing flooding, improving the reliability of water systems and making roads safer.
The first phase of work will take place on Avenue J and Flatlands Avenue. It is anticipated to be done by the end of 2018.
