Many took part in a Mother's Day walk across the Brooklyn Bridge today celebrating women who have overcome domestic violence.
Participating in the event was Assemblyman Felix Ortiz who introduced legislation that would put stricter penalties on those convicted of domestic violence. He believes offenders should have to wear ankle bracelets.
"People would have to think twice whether they want to see themselves walking around Brooklyn, the city even airport with a bracelet on their ankle," said Ortiz.
