Bronx and city schools in need of improvement are set to see an increase in funding.The additional funding is due to the approval of the Contract for Excellence between the state and the city. Under the agreement, the city's Department of Education will see more than $250 million in contract funds.In order to qualify for the money, the city had to make several improvements. Education officials agreed to make sure 75 percent of the funding will go to kids that are the most in need. The DOE also vowed to provide a plan to reduce class sizes across the city over five years.The changes are expected to be in place by the next school year.
