Football season is right around the corner and the Wakeman Boys & Girls Club in Bridgeport is searching for some more players to join the Cowboys.
The youth football team is entering its second season. Coach J.B. Brown says he’s excited to get back at it.
"Football is a gateway to open up anything -- not just athletics," he told News 12. "Everything we do is more about maturation than just wins. It’s bigger than just football, it's about what are you going to do after football.”
Team members also get tutoring and a warm meal after every practice.
The team is also looking for more cheerleaders.
Anyone interested in signing up can do so at the Wakeman Boys & Girls Club website.
