A mother is worried for her son’s safety after he was punched at school – not by a classmate, but a classmate’s father.
Nikole Hutchinson says she’s reached out to the school and the NYPD with not much being done. She says the incident took place last Tuesday.
She says her son was able to point out the father’s daughter, who she says was part of a group that bullied him last year.
According to Hutchinson, she was referred to the NYPD, who referred her back to the school. A meeting was called between her, school officials, and the police department on Monday.
Police say a report was filed for the incident yesterday, and it is being regarded as harassment, not assault.
“I want them to help me get to the bottom of this,” said Hutchinson. “I want him to not walk around, and be around, school grounds. I don’t know what else he could do.”
The Department of Education provided the following statement:
"The safety of all of our students is absolutely paramount. This alleged behavior is completely unacceptable. We are fully supporting the NYPD in their investigation of this incident and are providing supports to the student and their family."
