? The mother of 31-year-old Fernando Lopez says her son, who is accused of assaulting a bus driver, has been off his schizophrenia medications for more than a month.
Lopez is accused of attacking Jose Rondon, the driver of a Bx10 bus, on Monday.
In an exclusive interview with News 12 The Bronx, Lopez's mother says her son has been off his medications because they cannot afford to fill the prescriptions. She says that they were returning from a doctor visit to try and get her son help for his condition when the alleged attack occurred.
Lopez is charged with second-degree assault and injuring a transit worker. He is scheduled to appear in court later this evening.
