Off-duty NYPD officer killed in motorcycle crash

It happened just before 8:30 a.m. on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway near the Atlantic Avenue exit.

A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a box truck Wednesday morning, and police say the driver did not remain on scene.

Police sources say the victim is an off-duty NYPD officer from the 84th Precinct.

It happened just before 8:30 a.m. on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway near the Atlantic Avenue exit.

Police say a 30-year-old man was riding a Yamaha motorcycle going westbound when he was struck by a box truck.

EMS took the victim to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn where he was pronounced deceased.

The investigation is ongoing by NYPD's Highway Collision Investigation squad.
