The Mount Vernon Violent Crime Unit says that it has taken two guns off the street this weekend.

The Mount Vernon Violent Crime Unit says that it has taken two guns off the street this weekend.
In a post on their Facebook page, officials say that on Saturday, Sgt. King, Detective Ludwicki and Officer Dimperio apprehended an armed suspect that attempted to flee from them. They say a firearm was recovered.
The post also says that they remain committed to keeping Mount Vernon safe.
In a separate Facebook post, the unit says that while working in partnership with the Westchester County Police Department, they also took another gun off the streets, thanks to Detective Hylton, Officer Dimperio, WCPD detectives Fox and Lee.
No other information has been released on the two incidents.
