The Metropolitan Transportation Authority applauded its Bridges and Tunnels officers after 166 persistent toll violator vehicles were stopped and towed in July.
During that month, all of the drivers had their registrations suspended by the Department of Motor Vehicles because of unpaid tolls and fees that totaled more than $5 million.
From the beginning of this year until now, the MTA Bridges and Tunnels has intercepted and towed more than 1,100 vehicles for the same violation. It says it collected more than $11 million in tolls and fees.
