A 35-year-old MTA bus operator was arrested and charged on Tuesday, months after striking and killing an elderly man.

The 87-year-old man was walking in the crosswalk on Avenue Z back in June when he was hit by the bus operated by Andre Reid, just blocks from his home.

EMS quickly arrived and brought the victim, Semen Givant, to a hospital to address his critical injuries, which he tragically could not overcome.

Reid remained at the scene and was also taken to a hospital for treatment. The Florida native is facing charges including motorist's failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care.

News 12 reported on the tragedy when it happened and spoke to neighbors who said, "It's pretty horrific. The guy was just walking and minding his business and it was his light, too."

News 12 reached out to MTA for comment and they replied that Reid is "no longer employed by New York City Transit."
