The MTA says most subways and buses will be operating as usual during this weekend’s winter storm.
It says preparing ahead of the snow now can limit disruptions later.
Officials say New Yorkers can expect to see snow-fighting trains in service, equipped with de-icing systems.
The snowblowers and de-icer trains, which typically head out before the snow falls, are prepared to be in place by Sunday morning.
As for buses, the process of chaining all bus tires is already happening. More than 2,000 buses throughout 27 depots will be included.
“The chains are installed to give us traction as we navigate snow in the ground,” said Frank Farrell, executive vice president of the New York City Transit Department of Buses.
Transit officials are urging commuters to pay close attention to the MTA app to monitor any changes to service.
