New MTA plans could mean more room for L train riders next June.
The MTA wants to spend $1.7 million a year to boost L train service to manage the large crowds waiting at stations from Canarsie to Eighth Avenue.
MTA guidelines currently show the L line is at over capacity. According to a letter NYC Transit officials sent to Assemblyman Joe Lentol, the extra trains proposed by the plan would reduce the number of passengers in each car from between six to 15 people.
Riders News 12 spoke with said the change is long overdue.
A statement from Lentol on the L train service increase says, "It is clear that these increases speak to the population explosion in North Brooklyn. It is essential that transportation capacity increases amongst all modes and lines."
The revision plan will be presented at a meeting on Nov. 14 at 2 p.m.
