The MTA says it's taking steps to prevent people from taking their own lives by installing fencing along the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge.
In a letter to Councilmember Steven Matteo, the acting president of the MTA says a design consultant is working on prototypes that would be installed along the bridge.
He also says the agency teamed up with Columbia University and the city's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to check phones that connect to the city's crisis hotline, as well as review signs urging people to reach out.
