The Department of Transportation has proposed changes that it says will make Grand Street safer and better to use amid the upcoming L train shutdown.
The proposal includes creating protected curbside bike lines, a bus lane and a right-turn lane for commuters between the Williamsburg Bridge to Vandevoort Street.
The move would focus on safety, but drivers will lose a lane of traffic and parking spaces.
Bus service fare machines would also be installed.
City transportation officials say this plan will be implemented this month, but did not provide a firm date.
