The countdown to congestion pricing is on as the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's new tolling plan officially starts on June 30.
The MTA has confirmed that these charges will only happen once per day. So, if you go in and out of the city, you won't have to pay multiple times. If you drive into Manhattan below 60th Street, the following charges will apply:
Cars: $15
Trucks: $24-$36 (depending on size)
Motorcycles: $7.50
Officials say it will get 100,000 vehicles off the street. Advocates say this change will help cause less traffic, more cleaner air and a better transit system. There are some exemptions to the new plan, which includes government vehicles, yellow school buses with the Department of Education and commuter buses.
However, Bronx residents expressed extreme disappointment in the new plan. Some say the congestion pricing plan is just another money-grab for the city.
