New Yorkers rallied against the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s plan to speed up bus service throughout Brooklyn.

Ralliers voiced their frustration due to the proposal that eliminates some bus stops, meaning neighbors would have to walk further to catch their buses. One of those stops potentially being eliminated is at West 5th Street and Seabreeze Avenue.

The MTA feels it will decrease wait times for buses.

This new route would create 88 routes, 69 local routes and 19 express ones compared to the previous 62 local and 9 express routes. Throughout the city, over 1,600 bus stops across 300 routes would be removed.

There are still two more virtual hearings scheduled for community members to weigh in on the MTA’s plan on March 7 and March 9.
