Four families displaced by large house fire in East New York, firefighters say

The assistant chief says the fire took over both floors of the entire two-story building and the roof.

Firefighters battled an intense house fire early Wednesday morning on Essex Street in East New York.

The FDNY says they got the call around 3 a.m. for a large house fire at 258 Essex St.

The assistant chief says the fire took over both floors of the entire two-story building and the roof.

The fire took 130 members to put it out. It's not clear how the fire started.

No one was hurt from the fire, but four families are now displaced. The Red Cross is helping the families who now need to be relocated.
