A local nonprofit organization is providing underserved communities the opportunity to learn swimming skills.
MUSA Swim is giving African-American and Latino youths the chance to gain lifeguard certification by teaching them how to swim.
"Joining the swimming program I find that I feel a lot more confident in entering the water so I wouldn't be afraid anymore," said Cheyanne.
The program also allows participants a chance to earn money by placing them in high-paying aquatic positions around the city.
