The NYPD and borough high schools jointly held a competition Wednesday to spread an anti-violence message through music.
The "My School Has Rhythm, Not Violence" competition returned after a break dating back to 2008. It is sponsored by the NYPD School Safety and Community Outreach Program with the help of high school principals throughout Brooklyn, organizers say.
Students say they warmed up toward police as they met officers during the competition.
This year's winner was the Franklin K Lane campus, which consists of five different high schools. The students will receive a tour of the 103.9 FM radio station in Madison Square Park on Friday.
