The MTV Video Music Awards were held on Long Island for the first time at Elmont’s UBS Arena, and those lucky enough to score a ticket came face-to-face with music royalty.

News 12's Joe Arena and Erin Colton spoke to some stars on the red carpet ahead of the awards ceremony.

Stars like Taylor Swift and Post Malone took the stage at the 2024 VMAs. Shelby Harvey lives in Elmont, and saw the show from inside the arena.

“I think it’s awesome for the community. It definitely is,” Harvey said.

Nearby businesses were hoping to cash in on crowds from the event. King Umberto on Hempstead Turnpike had extra pizza pies in the oven just in case.
