The children's television show quickly became iconic in its way of inviting viewers into the world of Fred Rogers.

Roger's home featured puppets that often came to life and there were many lessons to be learned. 

The PBS children's program even tackled topics many people would have considered taboo at the time. 

Google paid homage Friday to the long-running series with a video on its main search engine page.
