Finding an apartment to rent in New York City may be an easy task but affording to live in one may be a difficult one.
According to city statistics, the median cost of rent varies depending upon location.
For example, a two-bedroom apartment for rent in Flatbush could cost an average of $1,975 per month while the same apartment in Lincoln Square could cost $5,914.
According to Renthop.com, an income of more than $100,000 is needed to afford an apartment in the Bed-Stuy area of Brooklyn and $80,000 for the Norwood section of the Bronx.
The most expensive place to live in New York City is Manhattan.
Renthop suggests renters looking to live in the borough should make at least $200,000 a year.
