#N12BK: Lead testing
After the NYCHA lead crisis was exposed early this year, there has been a heightened focus on lead issues in New York City.
As this week marks Lead Poisoning Prevention Week, the city's Department of Health wants you to know the risks.
The most common source of lead in New York City is peeling paint and its dust.
Lead exposure can delay a child's physical growth and mental development.
For pregnant woman, lead can harm both the fetus and the mother.
For adults, lead can cause high blood pressure, as well as brain, kidney and reproductive issues.
Those who think they may have been exposed to lead are advised by the NYC Department of Health to get a blood test.
