Naval officer from Brooklyn killed in Iraq war

A young naval officer from Brooklyn lost his life defending his country in Iraq.The U.S. Department of Defense has reported that 22-year-old Joseph Alomar was killed on a tour of duty in southern Iraq.

A young naval officer from Brooklyn lost his life defending his country in Iraq.The U.S. Department of Defense has reported that 22-year-old Joseph Alomar was killed on a tour of duty in southern Iraq. Although the investigation is on going, officials say Alomar was working at a military detention facility at the time of his death.The Defense Department says Alomar was stationed in a hostile fire zone but do not believe his death was a result of hostile action.
