Authorities seized nearly 1,000 pounds of illegal marijuana and other drugs during a takedown on Friday in Dyker Heights.
Officials also confiscated about $500,000 in cash, two illegal guns and five cars at the Dyker Gardens condominiums on 63rd Street near 13th Avenue.
“For them to pick to this building to operate an illegal safe house, storage house, distribution center - We are not playing,” said Kaz Daughtry, deputy mayor for public safety.
The luxury building sits between two schools in the residential neighborhood.
Police arrested four men and two women.
As of Friday evening, their names have not been released.
“I’m surprised because it’s a safe neighborhood, and I didn’t expect this to happen in this area,” said Wing Cheung, who lives in the building.
Officials said the group used seven apartments as a hub hiding in plain sight for drug trafficking and money laundering.
“Seven apartments?” said Cheung. “No, never heard of it. Everyone here is super nice and friendly. It’s like mostly like families that live here.”
Along with the six arrests, one child lived in one of the condos. She is now in ACS care.
