Almost 500 apartments will be coming to Coney Island through a new construction project.
The project at 1515 Surf Ave. aims to make the building environmentally friendly by using a geothermal system that will heat and cool the building while also keeping energy bills lower for residents.
“We were drawn to the fundamentals of the neighborhood… a block from the subway and a block from the beach is a pretty unique location,” said Anthony Tortora, senior vice president at LCOR, the team behind the project. “The scale of the site actually lent itself to the geothermal system because the larger the footprint, the easier it is to accommodate the system."
The lottery for these new apartments is running from now through March 20.
