A neighbor who called 911 to report an overnight house fire Saturday that killed seven children says he heard a child calling for help.
Andy Rosenblatt says he looked out the window and saw flames, then immediately reported the fire.
Firemen arrived within minutes, and Rosenblatt says he was not aware of the tragedy until morning.
Firefighters say they found seven children dead of burn and smoke inhalation at the house on Bedford Avenue in Midwood.
Their mother and her oldest daughter escaped the blaze by leaping out a window.
Neighbors throughout the tight-knit Orthodox Jewish community say they are devastated. Many say they knew the victims.
