The NYPD's 77th Precinct in Crown Heights is one of six in Brooklyn participating in a new community policing initiative.
NCO, which stands for Neighborhood Correction Officers, places officers in areas to focus on quality-of-life issues.
"I like the fact that I'm not answering 911 calls constantly," says Officer Phillip Romano. "I have the time to actually stop and interact with the community in a positive basis."
The NYPD says it hopes the program can become standard at every precinct in the city.
