The shut-down G stop on the corner of Willoughby and Marcy avenues in Bed-Stuy is apparently infested with rodents that are breeding inside and running around the neighborhood.

The G subway stop has been closed for years, and community members say rats the size of cats have now entered the Marcy Projects.

Neighbors say it's horrible for those who have to experience the strong smell of rat urine around the defunct station. Some have called it a public health issue that needs addressing immediately.

The Health Department told News 12 that the the stop is located on the mayor's neighborhood rat reduction zone, and is always inspected. The city Health Department said it installed bait stations around the entrance to deal with the rat problem in January, and that the bait stations were refilled in February and March.

In a statement the MTA said, "We've worked closely with the NYC Department of Health to allow access to the station for rodent treatment, but the root cause of this problem is trash being dumped on the sidewalk by a local building and that must be addressed.”
