An abandoned car at 740 Hendrix St. in East New York has been occupying limited parking space on the street for months.
It's an area that's home to many seniors.
The car is a green-colored Lincoln sedan and has expired temporary plates from Texas that list it as a Toyota. It also has an expired Connecticut registration.
Residents say the tires that have been flat for months, the owner is nowhere to be found, and some animals are calling the vehicle home.
"We've seen multiple raccoons going to and from the car we've seen opossums," said resident Tim Simon.
Simon tells News 12 he has filed multiple 311 complaints to get the car removed, but he says the tickets placed in the vehicle are removed.
The car has remained in the same spot.
"It's upsetting and it's sad I want DSNY to do the little things and get it right," he said.
Neighbor Ellis Washington tells News 12 he's also filed complaints, citing issues of double parking that the abandoned car creates.
"We have a church here on the street, we got seniors coming and going. Do you want to be able to drop off your vehicle in front of your residence? You're carrying things it's a big distance. It's a grave inconvenience," he said.
News 12 has reached out to DSNY and is waiting for an update on the vehicle. The agency is highlighting a joint effort between NYPD and DSNY to go after abandoned vehicles, with 13,000 removed since efforts began last year.
