The Brooklyn Nets introduced new head coach Kenny Atkinson Monday.
Atkinson became the 21st head coach in franchise history, but is already the fifth since the team moved to Brooklyn in 2012.
This will be the first head coaching job for Atkinson, who grew up on Long Island. Most recently, he was the highly regarded assistant coach of the Atlanta Hawks. He was also an assistant with the Knicks from 2008 to 2012.
Atkinson has a reputation for being strong with player development, which could prove useful to a Nets team coming off a 21-61 season but left without a first-round pick in next month's draft.
