Some Bay Ridge residents describe the intersection of Colonial Road and Wakeman Place as a disaster waiting to happen after the city replaced the speed limit sign there.
The Department of Transportation conducted a field investigation earlier this month and concluded the appropriate treatment would be to replace the 15 mph sign with a side road sign with a 15 mph speed advisory.
Some cars adhere to this new change and cautiously proceed toward the intersection, while others do not.
Nearby residents say the new sign is actually a step in the wrong direction, as they feel more needs to be done to deter speeding drivers.
Residents of the area say a speed bump or even a stop sign would go a long way in safeguarding people who use the intersection.
