A new military recruitment center on Pitkin Avenue has soldiers out on the street recruiting residents to enlist in the Army.
However, not everyone is happy about their presence in Brooklyn. The Army says they chose the Pitkin Avenue location for their recruitment center because it is a busy area in Brooklyn. Some residents are in favor of the recruitment center, saying encouraging youths to enlist in the Army helps them stay out of trouble. Other Brooklyn residents stand in opposition to the recruitment and the military presence in their neighborhood.
Army officials report that last calendar year they were able to recruit 75 Brooklyn residents to enlist. The success of this year?s recruitment has not yet been evaluated as the Army?s calendar year has just begun.
