As the city continues to reopen, 1 Willoughby Square debuted in Downtown Brooklyn on Tuesday -- the tallest commercial office tower building in the area since the 2004 Downtown Brooklyn rezoning.
Gustavo Rodriguez says he’s happy to see the 34-story building come to life after five years in the making.
“It's a rewarding experience to see how all of those ideas that we discussed at one point have come here and taken part in Brooklyn.  We wanted to do something that was made for Brooklyn and to see it now built-in Brooklyn is rewarding,” said Rodriguez.
Dozens gathered for the building’s opening on Tuesday. The Economic Development Corporation and the JEMB Realty Corporation celebrated the project that will offer a building bringing commercial office space and a 300-seat elementary school.
Mayor Bill de Blasio says this is a great contribution to the borough. He says New York City is open for business.
