A new state-of-the-art facility for the city’s Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) was unveiled Monday in Brooklyn.
The new facility aims to enhance the work the agency does with children and families.
The administration is making it easier for families to get the services they need with the new facility.
The facility is equipped with meeting rooms, a boutique room where families can get free clothes, an upgraded nursery room and a room designed specifically for teenagers, where they can use laptops to do work while their parents meet with caseworkers.
The new facility is also housed in the same building as the family court on Jay Street. This makes it more convenient for families to make court appearances when visiting ACS.
Commissioner David Hansell says four of the six child protection sites in Brooklyn will move into the new space that will be open to the public just in time for the new year.
As staff celebrate the new Brooklyn location, Hansell says they’re looking to find more opportunities like this to enhance all their sites across the city.
