A new health clinic in East New York is opening with the goal of providing essential services to the neighborhood.
The building occupied by the clinic was vacant until executives at Healthcare Choices, Inc. found it and, with the aid of a $650,000 federal grant, decided it would be the perfect spot.
Once it opens to the public in a few weeks, the clinic is expected to serve more than 2,100 patients. It will focus on the homeless, seniors, undocumented immigrants and the uninsured.
The clinic hopes people will visit it instead of the emergency room, which is why it will have special weekend and evening hours.
