? A local legislator wants to keep Brooklyn homeowners from selling their homes immediately after building additions.
Councilman Lewis Fidler said his proposed legislation will prevent a recurring problem in Brooklyn real estate. Fidler said homeowners who sell their houses soon after they add on to them receive an unfair profit.
A permit is already required to build such an addition. However, Fidler wants to require the homeowners to stay in their houses for a period of time before they put them up for sale.
Fidler said the legislation is still being written, and hopes it will be passed in six months.
