There’s only one pizza box recycling bin in the park for now, but the conservancy says it will review the pilot at the end of the summer to see if it should add more.

If you want to enjoy your pizza in Central Park, now you’ll have a place to recycle the box.

The Central Park Conservancy just launched a pizza recycling bin program in East Pinetum. It’s located close to playgrounds, picnic tables and the great lawn. The conservancy says it removes about 100 pizza boxes from this area on busy days.  The group says round trash cans can’t accommodate the boxes, leading to jammed cans that attract rodents.

“I think that it’s nice, I think that trash cans will be overflowing with pizza boxes when you’re trying to slam them in, so it will be cleaner, easier,” parkgoer Emma O’Connor told News 12 New York.
