3ds agoA ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place Tuesday at the new Platt Technical High School facility in Milford.
Officials say the 237,000-square-foot facility includes energy efficient technology, as well as a 15-bay garage to house maintenance equipment and the schools' buses, which transport students to job sites.
The completion of the new building comes at a time where trade jobs are in high demand.
Students and staff are currently being housed at the new building. The old building will be demolished.
Platt Tech is run by the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System.
The Connecticut Technical Education and Career System aims to provide a direct employment pipeline for both high school students and adults.
The goal is to prepare them to enter the workforce through its trade and academic programs.
U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz and several other officials are expected to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m.
