New mail-delivering technology being co-developed in Brooklyn is aiming to change how mail and packages are delivered.
Ottonomy, which has offices in Brooklyn, introduced the autonomous robot along with Arrive, the Indianapolis-based company, and their digital-secured mailbox. Both of the devices are still in the prototype stage, but they have already been deployed across the nation in commercial and residential facilities.
The collaborators say they want to show how the mail delivering process can be streamlined effectively, safely and securely. They have sent plans to the USPS to get approval for the Arrive mailboxes to get mail and packages.
As for when the Ottonomy robot might hit Brooklyn streets, the CEO says they need city approval.
Officials say there's no human interaction with either device, unless there's an issue.
