The city of New Rochelle is testing a plan to ease traffic congestion near Columbus Elementary School.
Through the Washington Avenue and Fifth Street Pilot program, Washington Avenue will only allow traffic to travel westbound, between Fifth and Sixth streets.
As well, Fifth Street is a one-way southbound road, between Washington and Union avenues.
Officials hope the new restrictions will also improve pedestrian safety and make room for a drop-off and pick-up lane.
