The new library at the YMCA in Coney Island is helping kids exercise their minds while offering them the chance to do take part in other activities in the building.
The YMCA, Brooklyn Public Library, the Champman Perleman Foundation and the Harvard Library repurposed a room inside the YMCA and made it a library.
"The Harvard Library really came up with the idea for this project to open up a youth library in a neighborhood that had a great need for more library services," says Marissa Brock, of the Chapman Perleman Foundation.
The new library is a hit with the kids. The hope is to bring more libraries to the borough to give kids a better opportunity to read and learn.
