New York City officials are hoping to make bus service in Tremont more reliable for commuters.
The Bx36 ran along East 180th Street until the route was recently switched to East Tremont Avenue.
The MTA says this change has saved riders 10 minutes in each direction and 15 minutes during rush hour.
Community Board 6 released a report about the condition of the Tremont Avenue transit in February.
It stated that buses move less than 5 mph during peak morning and afternoon hours due to traffic congestion and double parking.
Some community members say the Bx36 has made them late to work.
Officials including councilmember Oswald Feliz say it is important to discuss the topic and explore ways to improve.
"When we're talking about access to reliable transportation. We're talking about access to opportunity,” said Feliz.
Feliz says reliable service will lead to more foot traffic and economic gain.
"Right now, the big question is how are we going to fix the bus system,” he said.
Felix says the Department of Transportation is now hearing feedback from the community about what changes they want.
