Four hundred and eighty eight high schools in New York City will reopen Monday for the first time since mid-November.

Many employees in the schools already returned to the building Friday to prepare for the students.

New York City Schools Chancellor Meisha Ross Porter says the positivity rate in schools is just over .5%.

Coronavirus restrictions will still be in place and 20% of students and employees will be tested for the coronavirus weekly.

All students and employees will also be required to complete a daily health screening when attending in-person classes and students will be in smaller classes with desks spaced at least six feet apart for social distancing purposes.

The Public School Athletic League will also be restarting sports for both in-person and remote students.

Mayor Bill De Blasio and the Department of Education have also decided to extend the sports seasons into the summer so students can catch up.
