The smallest school in the city is facing the possibility of closure, again.
In the 2023-2024 school year, the Department of Education's data shows the school had 55 students.
A spokesperson for the Department of Education claims to News 12 that a school of that size cannot be funded to have robust academic and extracurricular activities.
Most of the parents and guardians of the school told News 12 they had no idea about the possibility of closure.
"I didn't know nothing about closing or the possibility of closing. I think it's a bad idea, they already know their friends, they already know their teachers," said one mother.
The Department of Education says parents were notified of the possibility in June. It said if the school were to close, no jobs would be lost and teachers would be able to go to other schools. It also claims the superintendent would work with students to find a school of their choosing.
The Department of Education says there will be more opportunities for parents to share their opinions in the coming weeks.
