The New York Embroidery Studio is opening a new location at Brooklyn Army Terminal, bringing more jobs to the city.
It is a collaboration between luxury fashion designers and has now signed a new 80,000 square-foot lease that will bring more than 500 on-site jobs to New York City.
The studio also played an important role during the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the beginning of the pandemic, the city saw PPE shortages. Nurses and doctors were wearing trash bags over their uniforms because there were no gowns at hospitals.
According to Michelle Feinberg, she and her team made over 590,000 hospital gowns in just nine weeks, while keeping hundreds of New Yorkers employed even as the city’s unemployment rate was at an all-time high.
