NY officials vow to keep up efforts in dismantling gun violence, ghost gun availability in New York
With gun seizures going up and gun violence trending down, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced efforts today to continue tackling gun violence in New York. The plan was announced soon after the Biden administration's executive order to ban ghost guns.

321ds agoWith gun seizures going up and gun violence trending down, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced efforts today to continue tackling gun violence in New York. The plan was announced soon after the Biden administration's executive order to ban ghost guns.
Hochul, along with Mayor Eric Adams, announced gun violence is down 11% compared to 2021.
The leaders say that more than 6,000 illegal guns have been removed from communities across the state, including in New York City where 4,700 guns have been seized.
Adams says the NYPD has made more than 3,000 gun arrests this year as well
Starting today, gun kits will be required to have serial numbers under the Biden administration’s order to ban ghost guns.
Making New York streets safer has been a major goal for Hochul. At the beginning of the year, she created the Interstate Task Force in hopes of stopping the flow of illegal guns.
Police say they’ve been recovering the weapons more and more at crime scenes, including one that was used in a shooting outside a school in the Bronx back in April that left a 16-year-old dead.
