Wednesday
night saw people of all ages come out to celebrate the night lifting ceremony
of the Giglio as part of the ongoing annual Giglio Feast celebration.
The
Giglio, weighing in at around two tons and standing over seven stories tall,
travels through the streets of Williamsburg being carried by well over 100
residents.
The
festival made its way to Brooklyn from Italy nearly 220 years ago, and it
celebrates Italian culture, traditions and saints like Our Lady of Mt.
Carmel.
Giglio Feast will continue through Sunday, with events
happening daily.
