A Newark man accused of killing a 74-year-old woman in her Paramus home is facing multiple charges, according to authorities.

Police conducting a welfare check Monday discovered Rita Acharya's body on the couch inside her residence on Ridgewood Avenue.

Authorities say the investigation revealed that 21-year-old Kishan Sheth, an acquittance of the victim, had strangled and stabbed her.

He then allegedly stole her debit card and vehicle. Police say he also made attempts to conceal his crimes before leaving.

Sheth was arrested Tuesday and remains in the Bergen County Jail awaiting his first court appearance.
