Basketball legend and Newark native Shaquille O'Neal was back in the Brick City Monday morning to unveil a revamped basketball court in the city's Clinton Hill neighborhood.
The four-time NBA champion used to play on the same court as a child. He says Newark's Boys & Girls Club kept him off the streets and dedicated to the game of basketball.
"This court is for you guys…to come out here and just follow your dreams,” said O’Neal. “Take it from me – you can be whatever you want to be. I'm you…We come from the same place."
Shaq also encouraged the kids to listen to advice from their teachers and parents.
